Max Kestner's 2004 autobiographical film Rejsen på ophavet (Max by Chance) is a short (29 minute) treasure. The filmmaker's narration tells about his identity stemming from one particular set of great-grandparents (on grid, above). The film is richly illustrated with moving and still images. The story is like a fairy tale, filled with digressions, coincidences, eccentrics, and philosophy.
