Elliot Caplan

Cage/Cunningham by Elliot Caplan (1991) is a warm portrait of a key 20th century artistic and personal partnership. Composer John Cage and choreographer Merce Cunningham (top still) open up for the camera. Dancers, artists, and friends, such as Robert Rauschenberg, speak about collaboration, innovation, and surprise, while beautiful archival footage shows rather than tells.
